Aside from Capisaan Caves, the one other place I was looking forward to seeing during our recent Nueva Vizcaya sojourn, was Lintungan Falls.

It is already mid-summer but I haven’t been to at least one body of water yet. So I was a very happy kid upon seeing the strong rush of water from the mountains. I quickly checked the waterfall basin and it’s clearer than any falls I’ve been to in my home province. Naturally, my eyes scanned the area and I was glad that it was clean and litter-free. There were trash bins as well as large sign posts for safety reminders.

Lintungan Falls is a four-tiered waterfall with natural pools located at Brgy. Runruno, Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya and is about 3 kms away from the highway passing through a now cemented road. From the Brgy. Hall, one can reach the falls within 10-20 minutes via a wheeled vehicle like a motorbike or tricycle.
Since the area is pretty much secluded – surrounded by a healthy rainforest, its no wonder that even if it was the height of summer, the flowing waters was indicative of a an environment that is thriving and protected.
History
In the early days, Lintungan Falls was called Tuy-ob by the locals. Tuy-ob means drop of water. The Igorots were the first settlers in the area. Later on, it was called Lintungan Falls since it is within the limits of Sitio Lintungan.
