Sometimes it is great to have luxury and leisurely experiences once in a while. As I am in love with anything antique, a brief visit to the legendary Manila Hotel was a brilliant idea.

The grandiose Manila Hotel was formally established in 1912 and remodeled in the 1970s. It is a well-known Philippine landmark ideal for intimate gatherings and often home to historical events.

The hotel is ideally located in the heart of Manila, just adjacent to the walled-city of Intramuros. Other nearby cultural attractions include Rizal Park, Fort Santiago, National Museum of the Philippines and the Cultural Center of Philippines Complex. Modern destinations comprise of the Manila Ocean Park and SM Super Malls.
The hotel has several restaurants guests can choose from namely Cafe Ilang-Ilang, Champagne Room and Mabuhay Palace. Non-hotel guests can dine here as well. We had our dinner at the beautifully-decorated Champagne Room.

For guys who are wanting to have their girls serenaded, you can request her favorite song be played by the pianist. For those celebrating anniversaries, you may request a surprise gift for your girl or your man alike like a bouquet of fresh flowers or a surprise dessert.
After dinner, having coffee at the the hotel Lobby Lounge is a relaxing tummy treat. Serving diners till 10 PM. |
How to get here? It is fairly easy to find the hotel. Best option and most convenient is if you have private vehicle. If commuting, best to take the metered taxi. Manila Hotel is just adjacent to the Intramuros, before the Eva Macapagal Port Terminal. For first-timers in Manila, you may utilize the very helpful Google maps.
A painting of the revered Filipino painter Fernando Amorsolo displayed at the lobby lounge. I am just unsure if this is an original. |
