So my good friend Journeying Pinay convincingly convinced me to tag along with here when she went home over the long weekend last August. I was headed for Cebu the following week so I was contemplating if I will decide to join her. Budget was the main concern but the power of finally seeing the unseen won me over.
From Vigan, we hopped on a jeepney going to Magsingal (P 20), then hopped on another bus to Paoay. The Church of St. Augustine is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the Baroque Churches in the Philippines.
I paused a bit by its side and admired its massive fortress. Breath-taking that church was. Another old beautiful church off my list.

Hazel and I spent some moment picturing this picturesque place of worship. We alighted at the next town and had the sumptuous Empanada de Batac for our minindal. My second time to gobble one.
I was not able to get a glimpse of the former President in his former home in Batac. The Marcos Museum was already closed when we arrived late in the afternoon. Fortunately, I got a taste of their yummy empanada before heading on to Laoag City to spend the night.
Finally! Cape Bojeador in Burgos Bangui Windmills

The following day was a wonderful day of first-times for me. We visited those huge Bangui windmills and paid tribute to the centenarian Cape Bojeador Lighthouse. Hazel was, no, is the greatest tour guide I have. Finally, someone understood the natural craziness I have in me. No transportation? We aimed to walk towards Adams Junction while attempting to hitch. We did not lose hope as Kuya Richard’s van stopped and let us hop in. It was proof that there are still good souls out there. |
