It’s been more than three years since I visited Mararison Island of the underrated Antique Province. I remembered spending an afternoon here with my traveling friends, just soaking in the island’s splendor. It was part of our Antique–Iloilo trip that I am glad that I took part of.
The boat ride from mainland Antique to the island lasts about twenty minutes. Mararison is situated off the coast of Culasi, Antique, from Brgy. Centro Poblacion. The island is easily navigable by foot and we enjoyed its natural attractions such as the Kawit sandbar, its white sand beaches and getting to see pitcher plants in the wild.
Hiking Mararison can take to about an hour with a local guide. Hiking for non-locals without guides is not allowed. This is for the safety of the guests as well as security of the island.
Once at the the top, you will be rewarded with magnificent views of the open seas. Blue skies are abound on this island! So breathtaking. In this time of pandemic, I can only wish of going back for now. 🙂
