We had a short and simple stay at Soria Moria Boutique Hotel. Located in a quiet corner of Wat Bo road, we were quietly welcomed on a misty night last September.
The room we stayed in was spacious, complete with the usual amenities a tired traveler would find joy in. A big cable TV, a bathroom with a tub, complimentary bottled water and coffee. And a nicely set king bed.
My friend and I took advantage of the hot and cold shower. We came from a 24-hr travel time from Pai, Thailand and nothing made us relax more in the start of our three-day sojourn in Siem Reap than a nice long bath.
We capped the night early as we looked forward to the next day. The soft lights sent us to la la land in no time. Even if the hotel sits in a small property, it has its own lounge, pool and roof-top jacuzzi too where you can watch for the Siem Reap sunset.
Free breakfast was served at the Fusion Kitchen Restaurant located in the ground floor, quickly accessible by the hotel lobby. Guests can choose to have their breakfast anytime between 6:30 AM and 9:30 AM. The hotel was just about a good 10-15 minute from Pub street. A plus if you are looking for a cozy hotel to stay in at a nice location.
The dishes served were mostly western food but I was glad to find Fried Noodles as it has become our staple meal in our two-week trip.
What I really liked about this hotel is that they are supporting local causes. Bikes are for rent by White Bicycle at a minimal fee of USD 2. You will not only enjoy a more personal exploration of Siem Reap but you will also help in preserving the environment. The hotel promotes responsible tourism and employs local workers. That is a good cause to support, don’t you think?
