I find watching films, may it be old or new, enthralling. I can compare it to reading a book but watching movies for me has a different charm altogether. When watching Filipino films, I often prefer the older ones. The older the better. I think.
A few days ago I watched Benhur. I was able to watch the modern film which was shown last 2016 in theaters. I was curious how the old movie fared. The first one was shown in 1959. It was old. This was the year my mom was born.
And then a good friend suddenly suggested a string of old films for me to binge on. The titles were not as catchy or as mysterious as today’s masterpieces. But I did my research and I found out that these were no ordinary films. They were award-winning actually. The Academy Award-winning kind of movies.
Watching old films is a treat in itself. Though watching in black and white does not really give justice to the amazing locations the films were shot in, I still fell in love with them.
One particular film was Roman Holiday (1953) which was shot entirely in Italy. I have been dreaming of Italy for a few months now and seeing the places I wanted to see to be visited by Audrey Hepburn, my new favorite actress by the way, was just super!
My new admiration for Audrey Hepburn led me to view her films in Youtube and there I discovered the song Moon River. <3
Simply, I fell in love with her. The song. The lyrics. It inspires wanderlust. Innocence. Slow times staring at the moonlit sky.
Aah. Moon River. I need to watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s next. <3
