It was two-hour drive from Roxas City to Carles town, Iloilo. We were set to explore Gigantes Group of Islands the following day and I was already imagining a solid six-hour sleep the moment we arrived. I wasn’t feeling well so every kilometer spent on the road towards our accommodation was a sign that I will be able to fulfill my wish then. We arrived late at night and upon seeing the interiors of Solina Beach & Nature Resort, my mood instantly became better and lighter. It was more than comforting to look at!
Resort Grounds
Our Room (Camalig)
Solina Beach & Nature Resort is a great jump-off point to the breathtaking Gigantes Group of Islands. The resort is just a ten-minute drive from the port and town center. Being a full-serviced resort, guests can find themselves staying comfortably within its premises. It has its own restaurant, attractive pools for grown-ups and kids and offers several types of accommodation which suits different types of guests. It is also a beachfront property. The resort is just newly-opened and will continue to undergo improvements from hereon.
I liked the high-ceilinged restaurant as it allows great air circulation and creates a calming ambience for respite-seeking guests. There are still a few things they can improve on like offering more types of breakfast dishes. Nevertheless, the staff were always helpful and respectful to our requests. Wi-Fi connection wasn’t good in some areas so those working on the road still need to go to the reception area. However, I think the resort would like guests to truly experience being one with nature and staying less connected while vacationing at Solina. And if ever that is the case, I think that is a beautiful idea.
Other Room Types
There were several types of accommodation being offered at the property We stayed in a Camalig whichn was good for four persons. The Balai Reina and Balai Hari were specifically designed for couples and families as its set-up feels more like a home. The Pads meanwhile are smaller and are better suited for two persons. Solina’s grounds are vast which make biking and walking enjoyable activities. Its swimming pool is loveliest at night. It was relayed to us that the owner was a nature lover which was quite evident in the interior designs and the way the resort was built. Some of the furniture were even made from trees felled by typhoon Yolanda.
Balai Hari/Balai Reyna
Pad
As Solina Beach & Nature Resort is the first of its kind in Carles, Iloilo, visitors wishing to explore the beautiful Gigantes Group of Islands will have more options in terms of accommodation. The premier resort does costs more than the other rustic accommodations found in the town, but if you truly want a getaway that is both completely relaxing and rejuvenating, then paying for that experience shouldn’t that be a big issue. It’s a vacation truly worth saving and waiting for.
