The Ruins: A Reminder of a Man’s Greatest Love

The Ruins was once the grand mansion of Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson and his beloved wife, Maria Braga. It was built in the 1900s influenced by Italian architecture. However, Maria unfortunately was unable to actually live in this mansion as it was built in her memory after she died upon giving birth to their 11th child.

Situated in Talisay City, Negros Occidental. The Ruins is now under the care of the Javellana Family. A friend told me that she was able to see The Ruins before its present state. And as any ruins would appear, it was of great neglect, disrepair and hopelessness. 

However, seeing the potential of it being a tourist spot, the family took great strides in rebuilding the Ruins in its former glory – a reminder of how a man’s great love to his wife can endure forever.

Love is truly enduring. Specially if it’s pure and selfless. Coupled with an unbreakable trust to one another, I see no reason for two persons in love to part. I believe that I am about to find such love in the near future. 🙂 A good man with a kind heart. You just feel it. He doesn’t need to build me a mansion like this. But his love and respect for me would be exactly what I need. His handsome face is just a bonus. 🙂

My friends who were based in Bacolod City toured me around here. We went during the afternoon where they said the mansion is at its loveliest and most romantic. True enough, the sun glowed perfectly and its rays glowered softly over it. It was beautiful. It was perfect. The first time I saw it, I fell in love right away.

As you may know, I know I am in love with a place once I am able to write poems. And true enough, the romantic in me has been awakened once more.

I have prayed for you for the longest time
And God has answered my prayers
Whatever is in store for us
I will let the universe guide us to one another
Now I know why everything was wrong before
Because you came at the perfect time to right it all
